I am an experienced counsellor with a particular interest in how a compassionate approach to our experiences, thoughts, feelings and emotions helps us to cope with life and be the person we want to be.

I work with individuals and young people aged over 16.

Counselling can afford an opportunity to talk to openly to someone who will listen without judgement and help you find a way through whatever challenge you are facing.

Counselling can help you get your thoughts in order and explore things from different perspectives.

I have had experience of working with clients with a range of issues, such as:

anger, anxiety, stress, bereavement, depression, low self esteem, family and relationship problems, bullying and self harm.

In the 10 or so years since first qualifying as a Person Centred Counsellor, I have spent a lot of my time helping young people deal with difficult times in their lives in my role as a school counsellor for a local charity.
I have deliberately undertaken a wide variety of Professional Development training to extend my knowledge of different theories and techniques to enable me to match my approach to the particular needs of a more diverse range of clients.

Through my career from experiencing the shop floor as a student to senior manager in multinational companies I gained first hand experience of working closely with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures in various countries, experiencing first-hand the stress of balancing work and family pressures that we all face. Around 15 years ago I was made redundant and decided to follow my desire to help people and trained as a counsellor.

As a counsellor I bring not only my counselling training but also my life experience to the counselling room.

Types of Session

Long Term and Short term

Sometimes issues can be resolved quite quickly and some people need support for longer.  We can work together just as long as suits you.

Single Session

Some issues can be sorted in a single session. I offer a short session package.

In an initial short session we can ensure a common understanding of the issue and then meet for a full hour focussed exclusively on helping with that issue.  We'll fix an appointment around 6 weeks or so later to check how you're doing and answer any follow up questions.


I am fully qualified to hold sessions using the computer or the telephone.  I am happy to talk with you using whatever method you are most comfortable with, e.g. zoom or telephone.

Face to Face

I am happy to offer face to face sessions in Newbury, subject to availability and by appointment.
